Úbeda marks Breast Cancer Day with the campaign “Nos lo tomamos a pecho”
The Hospital San Juan de la Cruz de Úbeda has hosted an event alongside the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer en Jaén featuring the presentation of a campaign, patients' testimonies and the unveiling of a commemorative tapestry in the centre's hall.
The Hospital San Juan de la Cruz de Úbeda, part of the Área de Gestión Sanitaria Nordeste de Jaén, has held an event to mark World Breast Cancer Day, which is commemorated every October 19. The day focused on awareness, support and recognition of the people living with this disease.
Campaign and testimonies
The activity, held in the hospital's assembly hall and organised together with the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer en Jaén, included the presentation of the campaign “Nos lo tomamos a pecho”. Afterwards there was a space dedicated to listening to the patients' voices, whose testimonies helped to raise awareness of the impact of the disease and to highlight the importance of support throughout the care process.
A tapestry in the hall
The day began with the welcome and the institutional opening. At the end, a commemorative tapestry was unveiled in the centre's hall, a symbolic gesture intended to give visibility to this date and to convey a message of solidarity to those affected and their families.
What is being called for
According to the Servicio Andaluz de Salud, World Breast Cancer Day recalls the importance of social awareness, early detection, research and access to comprehensive healthcare. It also serves to recognise patients' experience and to call for close, humanised care that takes into account both clinical and emotional needs.
