Andalusian universities and public research centres have had since this Tuesday the regulatory bases of two subsidy programmes published in the Boletín Oficial de la Junta de Andalucía (BOJA). Together, the calls covered by these rules total 41.5 million euros.

Scientific equipment

The first line, endowed with 36.5 million, finances the purchase, installation and start-up of scientific-technical equipment to carry out research projects. It also covers the improvement of existing infrastructures, with priority for latest-generation equipment designed for broader shared use than that of a single group or project. In addition to the acquisition cost, assembly, transport and installation, associated works or refurbishment, use licences or software and the training of technical or research staff who will handle the equipment may also be subsidised.

Transfer and dissemination

The second line has five million. Of these, four are allocated to transfer actions and one to dissemination actions. In transfer, support is given to the valorisation and application of R&D results, their incorporation into the productive fabric, the protection of results and patents, technological valorisation projects, the commercialisation of results and the creation of technology-based companies. In dissemination, initiatives for scientific culture and for connecting research and citizens are supported. Eligible expenses range from staff and the purchase of materials to the application for intellectual and industrial property rights, room rental or registration for conferences.

Up to 100% of the cost

According to the regulatory bases, in both cases the grants may cover up to 100% of the cost of the proposed activity. The Junta states that these two lines seek to strengthen the competitiveness of the Andalusian research system and to close the R&D&I cycle, from the generation of knowledge to its dissemination.

What needs to be done

The bases are already published in the BOJA. The grant calls are governed by these rules and are aimed at universities and public research centres.
