The CSIF Andalucía union is asking the Servicio Andaluz de Salud to update the specific supplement for cooks, who are paid 285.31 euros per pay period when they should receive 430.17 for the qualification required.
Cooks at the Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS) are paid a specific supplement of 285.31 euros per pay period. According to CSIF Andalucía, that amount falls well short of the 430.17 euros they should receive for the level of training required to enter the category. The union calculates that the accumulated difference amounts to a debt of more than 20,000 euros with each professional.
A higher qualification on an old salary
CSIF explains that for more than a decade these workers have been required to hold the higher technician qualification, which places them in pay group C1. However, the supplement paid to them is the same one that existed before that requirement. The union points out that the figure is lower than the one received by any other higher technician category in the SAS.
The president of CSIF Sanidad Andalucía, Victorino Girela, warns that the harm does not stop at the payslip: «not only do the SAS cooks stop receiving an amount that is theirs by right, but they also do not contribute on it, with the consequent harm to their labour and social rights and to their future benefits, especially with a view to retirement».
Own kitchen in the hospitals of the former agencies
The union also asks the SAS that the hospitals that belonged to the extinct health agencies have their own kitchen service, like the rest of the Andalusian public network. According to CSIF, that service is currently provided by contracted companies. The organisation argues that, now that those centres are part of the SAS, they should have the same conditions as the rest of the public hospitals.
Pay committee
At the end of May, CSIF requested the convening of a technical pay committee to address this claim and other comparative grievances that, in its view, the SAS maintains. Girela asks the Regional Ministry to «understand the urgency of the matter» and convene that meeting as soon as possible. The claim has been made public to coincide with International Chef's Day, which is commemorated on October 20.

—Update the specific supplement for SAS cooks from 285.31 to 430.17 euros per pay period.
—Convene the technical pay committee requested at the end of May.
—Implement an own kitchen service in the hospitals of the extinct health agencies.
