The Regional Ministry of Tourism, Justice, Deregulation and Local Administration is taking part this week in the Routes World fair, the main global meeting dedicated to air connectivity, held in Frankfurt (Germany). The Andalusian delegation is holding meetings there with international airlines to expand the connections of the six Andalusian airports.
Scheduled meetings
Among the scheduled appointments are meetings with Air Canada, which has recently announced a direct connection between Montreal and Sevilla, and with Emirates or Etihad, companies with a strong long-haul presence. Contact has also been made with British Airways, Wizz Air, which has launched a route to Granada from London-Luton, Fly2Galicia, newly created and which will also operate at the Granada-Jaén airport, Vueling, Binter, Turkish, Air Serbia or American Airlines, among others.
What is sought
The aim is to present the region's proposal to the airlines and the potential of its air connectivity through the six airports in Andalusian territory. According to the Regional Ministry, the fair connects decision-makers from the sector globally and allows companies to analyse with new partners long-term opportunities to expand their presence at airports and destinations.
EasyJet and its base in Málaga
At the fair, contact has also been made with easyJet, which has held an event in Málaga to mark the fifth anniversary of its base at the airport, from which it currently operates 25 routes and has announced the addition of flights to Southampton, Burdeos and Biarritz.
Fair programme
The fair has a programme of round tables, informative meetings with airlines and workshops on the latest market outlook, with advice from sector experts on business strategy and the state of the industry.
