Andalusian families with school-age children will notice the effect of the Education budget for 2027 next school year: more money for grants, school meals, transport and morning classroom, and free first-cycle Infant education extended to children under one year old in the 2027-2028 school year. The department's budget amounts to 9,811 million euros, 5.05% more, as indicated by the minister María del Carmen Castillo in a parliamentary committee.
Of that amount, 8,915 million come from the Junta de Andalucía's own funds, 90.8% of the total. Castillo explained that the increase occurs while the region will receive 60 million less from the Government of Spain, 11.16% less.
More grants and services for families
The grants section exceeds 1,024 million, 6.65% more than the previous year, with an average of 902 euros per student per year. School canteens grow 4.35% to over 102 million; school transport reaches 136.8 million, 2.72% more than in 2026; and the morning classroom and extracurricular activities add up to 21 million, almost 15% more. Scholarships will have 376 million.
For the first cycle of Infant education (0-3 years), 312.6 million are allocated to family grants, 16.3% more than last school year. Adding public schools and services, the stage exceeds 465 million, 11% more than in 2026.
Staff and special education
Teachers' salaries account for 7,010 million, 6.15% more, 406 million above 2026. The teaching staff in public centres exceeds 109,000 professionals, with 3,900 teachers joining this school year, and the ratio stands at 22 students in Infant classrooms for 3 and 4 year olds. The reduction in the ratio is being extended year by year until Infant and Primary are completed.
Special Education reaches 719 million, 83.2 million more than in 2026, with 8,200 euros per student with special educational needs (SEN). Vocational Training exceeds 800 million and its 12,813 professionals account for 745.5 million annually.
In infrastructure, more than 183 million will be invested in real estate, of which 174 million go to construction, repair and equipment of public centres, 10% more. A climate control plan adds 39 million and raises total investment to 282 million. Among the planned works are the new school in Vega de Acá (Almería), the expansion of CEIP Nueva Andalucía de Adra (Almería), the second phase of the Conservatorio Paco de Lucía de Algeciras (Cádiz), the rehabilitation of the Conservatorio María de Molina de Úbeda (Jaén), a new secondary school in Benalmádena (Málaga) and the new IES de Coria del Río (Sevilla).
