The emergency works to repair forest roads and livestock trails damaged by the 2026 storms in Cádiz and Sevilla will receive 2,725,000 euros more. The Governing Council has acknowledged this increase, approved by the Regional Ministry of Sustainability and Environment, according to the Junta de Andalucía.

From 36.2 to 38.9 million

With this extension, the total budget for the action goes from 36,202,000 euros to 38,927,000 euros. The money comes from the Junta's own funds and covers both the execution of the works and the support services for their supervising direction. In Cádiz, the review of numerous livestock trails in the Sierra and the Campiña has found damage far greater than estimated in the first assessment. For this reason, 1,900,000 euros additional are allocated to the works, without changing the intervention areas and keeping the company that executes them. To that amount are added 75,000 euros for the support service for the supervising direction, which also retains its original contractor.

New areas in Sevilla

In Sevilla, the extension will allow action in places that could not be assessed at first due to the accumulation of water from the storms. These interventions have 715,000 euros and have been grouped into a new works lot. It will be executed by another forestry company, after the contractor of the original lot and the substitutes declined to take on the extension of the territorial scope. The support service for the supervising direction is also increased by 35,000 euros.

Deadlines and works

The works in both provinces have a maximum execution deadline of November 15, 2026, and the support services for the supervising direction will extend until December 15. Both deadlines are non-extendable. The works will allow the repair, restoration and stabilization of the affected infrastructures to strengthen their safety. They include the removal of materials dragged by water, such as rocks and plant debris, and the reconstruction and reinforcement of the surfaces and platforms of the roads. To restore water drainage, transverse and longitudinal drains will be repaired and installed. Slopes and embankments will also be stabilized and infrastructures linked to forest roads and livestock trails will be rebuilt, including masonry or concrete dams and the associated safety signage.
